There’s no explanation…

Simple and Sure

…but there is a new Pains of Being Pure at Heart LP, which, as regular readers will know, can only make me ridiculously excited.

It all started with this, the first single from the record, and a video that keeps on ‘giffing’.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart :: Simple and Sure

There are more posts to come regarding Days of Abandon, as the new LP is called, but this one is all about video and the medium of pop video doesn’t come much better than this.

September Girls :: Heartbeats

From Dublin’s greatest indiepop five-piece to three rock ’n’ rollers from Vancouver. This was filmed on VHS and looks perfect. Single of the year? Very possibly. Just don’t make a sound.

White Lung :: Face Down

That track arrived via the ever wonderful Dukla Prague Away Kit, which also provides us with a reminder of what it believes to be the greatest ever Glastonbury moment. And who am I to argue‽

I’m normally unmoved by this band, but the transformation brought about by the presence of one of rock ’n’ pop’s true originals reading the words from a crib sheet is remarkable.

Gorillaz :: Glitter Freeze

Original image: homosexuality.
