Day 13 — a guilty pleasure

I’m a not really sure what a guilty pleasure is, but it seems to boil down to something that isn’t cool, sold well and is frowned on by music critics. I was tempted to go for a bit of Barry Manilow, but most of his records are crap and the handful of half-decent songs only come alive when you see him perform live — that man can sing.

So I turn to a band and a man with a very different voice who possibly are cool and generally not scorned by the musical literati, with one exception.

I love the high camp of this song, the male voice choir, the fact that it’s a cover of a Village People song, and the incongruous ending. It’s fab. The only Pet Shop Boys record I own and I’m happy to say it.
