Day 6 — a song that reminds me of somewhere

At about 7pm on Friday evening, the little car loaded with luggage and camping gear, we left Reading for the 16-hour drive to Visan in northern Provence. As we headed south through Burgundy we got our first sight of the vineyards that would frame our two-week holiday.

At this point, we reached for the CD booklet — such were those pre-iPod days — for the Dean Martin disc. It’s a song about praying for rain in California that will forever remind me of those wonderful camping trips in the Rhône valley.
